Los Leñateros Studio

Los Leñateros has been operating as a papermaking, printmaking, and artist books cooperative studio and store for over 25 years. The books feature original art, stories, and poetry.


La Jícara (The Gourd) is a literary codex that the cooperative produces as a series.


To produce the paper, natural plant fibers are cooked and rinsed, then blended with recycled paper.


The paper pulp is then cast in molds or pressed onto metal sheets and dried in the sun.


The handmade paper is transformed into colorful posters, cards, and books with silk screens and relief-blocks.
